Walk-ins Welcome
No appointment necessary for permit tests
From your first permit to your full commercial license, we provide everything you need in one place.
Take your pre-post inspection, basic control, and road drive test at our facility. We test all three classes — A, B, and C — with state-certified examiners.
Study for and take your CDL permit written test right here. General knowledge, air brakes, combination, and endorsement exams all available.
Not ready for the test? Our training programs build your skills from the ground up — classroom theory and behind-the-wheel practice included.
Bring your own vehicle for a private test, or enroll in a group session through our partnering driving schools. We accommodate both schedules.
Indiana classifies commercial licenses into three tiers. We test for all of them — and we'll help you figure out which one matches your career goals.
Long-haul trucking, tractor-trailers, and any GCW over 26,001 lbs with a towing unit over 10,000 lbs. This is the license most carriers require for entry-level OTR positions.
Single vehicles over 26,001 lbs — straight trucks, large buses, box trucks. You can tow up to 10,000 lbs. Ideal for regional delivery, transit, and municipal driving.
Vehicles designed to transport hazmat, placarded loads, or 16+ passengers. Required for tanker, double/triple, and passenger endorsements on top of a base license.
CDL Test Services has been Muncie's go-to facility for commercial driver licensing since day one. We started as a small testing center with one examiner and a conviction: getting drivers through the process quickly, fairly, and with the skills they actually need on the road.
Today we serve hundreds of drivers annually — from recent CDL school graduates taking their first road test, to experienced truckers adding endorsements, to career-changers who've never sat behind a commercial wheel. Our test site is state-certified, our examiners are patient and thorough, and we treat every driver like they matter — because they do.
All testing conducted under Indiana Secretary of State guidelines with certified examiners.
Know your result immediately. No waiting days for a certificate — you leave with your license or next steps.
Our examiners are known for being fair, clear, and supportive — not intimidating.

You'll need a valid driver's license, your CDL permit (if applicable), and the commercial vehicle you'll be tested in — properly registered and insured. If you're using your own truck, make sure it matches the class you're testing for. Call us to confirm any class-specific requirements.
Permit and knowledge tests are walk-in friendly — just show up during business hours. Road tests are best scheduled in advance to guarantee a slot, especially on Fridays and Saturdays. Call (765) 760-3739 to reserve your time.
Most road tests run 30–45 minutes, including the pre-trip inspection, basic controls, and on-road driving. Plan for about an hour total to account for check-in and any paperwork.
Yes — many of our drivers bring their own vehicles. The truck must be in safe operating condition, properly registered, and match the license class you're testing for. We can also provide a vehicle if you don't have one; call ahead to arrange.
Not a problem — we'll go over what you need to improve and you can rebook. Most drivers need only one or two retakes. We want you to pass, and we'll be honest about where you need work.
Both. We offer CDL instruction programs including classroom study and behind-the-wheel training, plus standalone road testing for drivers who've completed training elsewhere. We also partner with local driving schools for group testing arrangements.
